The Primary graduation experience

Elementary school is one of the coolest, most lively years in anyone’s life. But after 6 long years, I have completed the first chapter of schooling. This was a journey beyond words, but anyways, I would like to cherish this memory of my 5th grade graduation in my blog!

I went to Nancy Tarvin Elementary School, and it was amazing! There are super nice teachers and students, we learned a lot of things, and they promote creativity by opening makerspace! This school is new, by the way. The whole graduation prep started when our PA (Preforming Arts) teacher told us that we would be singing Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield. We practiced for about 2 weeks, and then we got our stage placement slips, where we filled out where we wanted to be. I wanted to be in the front middle, because I like to be seen! Well, I got that spot, and it was great! We practiced for a few more weeks.

If we talk out of PA, that would come to the 5th grade classrooms. My teacher told us that if we wanted to, we could write a speech that we would say at the ceremony. I said yes, and that day after school, I worked on my speech for an hour. But there was more competition than I realized. Almost the whole class was writing the speech, but I still put in all my effort. And if you are writing a speech, don’t do the same mistake as I did; I used the suggestions. When you use that, everyone will be using that, but you want to make yours stand out and original!

The actual graduation was really cool! Everyone wore dresses or something professional, and all the parents came to the MPR first. Then, all of the fifth grade did a walk around the whole school, also known as the final walk. And after that, we made our grand synchronized entrance into the MPR. We sat on our chairs, and the principle and teachers thanking all the parents and saying how GREAT we were!!

Then, we got our diplomas. While we were in line, the girl who was giving a speech from a different class started speaking, and in the end, she cried :(. It was so sad as all the teachers and students cried along. After all, we were graduation 6 long years of primary school! But the drama didn’t stop there! My class got into alphabetical order and stood through the ‘fake’ diploma line, because they didn’t want to print 117 diplomas, so they just made pretend replicas. After I got the diploma, I had to walk around half of the MPR and then come back through the middle… but I messed up big time. I went through the WHOLE MPR, and I reached after two people who where behind me got to their seats.

Then… the song. It was kind of stressful. We had to line up perfectly, and get the song right. But there were lyrics under out chair, which we were to bring to the stage. but after that, we ate cookies with our parents and took pictures. After a long time, all the parents left, and I decided to stay until half day buses like most of my friends. It was one of the BEST school days of my life, filled with tears and happiness. 🙂
