I started middle school about four months ago, and it has been some kind of adventure! Making new friends, assignments, and grades are all important parts of school and life. Fun fact; for the last few tests, I’ve been failing a lot, or getting low scores, such as 80’s. But now, I know the tricks to do well in school and tests, so you don’t have to feel abused!
First, before taking tests, I go over some things that YOU MUST do before starting. Always remember; read the whole question. If you read it partially, you might not know what they are asking for. Also, follow all instructions, because what if the teacher actually wants you to round your answer? Or what if your actually supposed to pick two options?
Another thing is to TAKE YOUR TIME. You might think that you already are, but most people aren’t. If it is a timed test, don’t rush through; manage your time on each question, working efficiently while still staying calm. You don’t have to be the first to finish. In my math class, EVERYONE stands up at the EXACT same time to submit their work. But I use all my time and am the last to finish. In the last test, I got 100 for being last while everyone got lower scores! The power of time!
Review materials! Review past tests, notes, assignments, and use resources like ChatGPT and Gemini for maximum testing confidence. Make sure you actually know what will be on the test. Make sure you have all apps and resources installed. In science, we are given practice games with questions that might be on the test.
Do extra activities! For example, compete in a UIL, olympiad, AMC, bee, or any other advanced competitions. When you practice for those, you will feel that the school tests are a lot easier.
Well, acing a test is just that simple! Follow some rules, read questions, and do competitive stuff are definitely doable. Now go and win that 100!
