A day in the office

This week is my first week of summer vacation! We are on a trip this week in Dallas, and in my moms office, I was there for 5 hours yesterday and the day before. This is how dramatic the first day was, in story mode.

It was a cold morning in the hotel. The stormy clouds covered the sun, and rain poured down like a waterfall. The phone was ringing with flood alerts. Since my mom had to go to work, she decided to drop me off at the tiny library downtown. They said they were opened, so me and my mom headed to the car with bright smiles, considering the fact that is was a flood. We got into the car, which was freezing. And it was a Texas summer, so that didn’t make sense. My mom started the GPS, and we went away. We reached the library after 5 minutes of a cold car, even though the heater was on. The library looked like an evil headquarter. It was 1 story, and tiny from the outside. I ran to the door, and my hair got soaked. ‘CLOSED TODAY’ a sign said. I went back to the car, and told my mom that it was closed.

Then, my mom opened Google Maps, but there was no internet, and she didn’t have offline maps. Her LTE wasn’t working either! Trees were falling on roads. We both regretted our life choices. My mom decided to drive to a random Shell gas station across the library. We went inside, shivering. Note that I was wearing shorts. We ask the cashier if there was internet, but he didn’t know. But he said that he could lend his phone to us. We opened his Google maps, took a picture of the route to the office, and gave the phone back. But it wasn’t a live map, so we went outside, looking for the South part of the road. We also forgot that we had a compass on the phone. But we finally figured it out, and off we went.

But the drama didn’t stop there. ‘Beep! Beep! Beep!‘ That was the sound of the car when a seatbelt was unbuckled… or when a door wasn’t closed. We stopped on the roadside, and I tested my door. Closed. My mom also tested her door. Closed. So we kept driving. ‘Beep. Beep. Beep’. The terrible sound continued. “I think the rear door is opened.”, I said, franticly. “That can’t be. We didn’t open it!”, My mom said. We stopped on the road side again. This time, we tested the rear door. The beeping stopped. Yay! We continued driving, and finally reached the warm, cozy, 5 story office building. It had many companies. We went to the 4th floor, and the office was huge! So the moral of the story is that, even in doubt, you just have to be patent and happy 🙂 . The end!
